Medical Camps 2

We had another wonderful day today! We were at the Baraka Baptist Church in Jua Kali.  We sat everything up and started seeing people.  Once again by lunch time we had seen 179 people.  One of our nurses from here in Kenya could not be there today.  Yesterday I had watched and so today I was one of the nurses taking people’s vital signs.  By the end of the day we saw over 250 men, women and children.

The Baraka Baptist Church is also were I teach in the nursery school.  It was so neat to see all my little kiddos today!!  Some of the nursery school kids with medical problems were able to see the doctors and get the medication they needed.  We were also able to pass out vitamins, toothbrushes and toothpaste to all the people.  Everyone had a chance to hear the Gospel and we saw 18 come to know Christ as their Savior!!!

I am excited that we were able to do these medical camps and appreciate the doctors and nurses that came and gave of their time and money.  I can’t wait to see the doors of opportunity that will be opened up in the different areas because of these medical camps the Lord enabled us to do.

Medical Camps

We have a visiting team of doctors and nurses here in Nanyuki.  Some are from the US and others are from here in Kenya.  We went out today to place called Mutunda just near a town called Isiolo.  We have a baby church-plant there and saw this as a good way to reach out to the community physically and spiritually.

We were not sure how many people we would see, but by lunch time we had seen 122 patients.  My job was calling the patients by their assigned numbers and helping the nurses with whatever they needed.  I was able to use my Swahili as I called numbers and chatted with the children. =)  I even got to hold some babies and calm them as they were checked out.  They were so precious!

As the people were standing in lines either to see the nurses or the doctors others were sharing the Gospel with them.  All 200 patients heard the Gospel and 20 were saved!!!

We were also able to pass out toothbrushes and toothpaste to all that came.  Thank you to the Southland Baptist Church who donated them!

Tomorrow we are going out to the Baraka Baptist Church in Jua Kali were I have been teaching the Maasai children in the nursery school.  I am so excited!  I pray I might be able to meet some of the parents of the children that I have been teaching.  I will try to post pictures as soon as possible.

March Prayer Letter

During the months of January and February, we held the last two Saturday Sunday School Seminars. What a blessing it was to work with the Sunday school teachers and pastors of the Bible Baptist Churches in the Nyahururu area.  It is exciting to be working with this wonderful group to reach the children here in Kenya!  Excitement is building as we prepare for the very first Vacation Bible School to be held at the Bible Baptist Church of Nyahururu this April.
The last week of January I had the opportunity to attend the annual Missions Conference at the Bible Baptist Church of Noonkopir.  It was the first church I worked with here in Kenya. What a blessing it was to see their members still faithfully supporting Kenyan missionaries to Tanzania and northern Kenya!
Things are going well at the Mt. Kenya Baptist Church.  I am privileged to share the responsibility of teaching Sunday school with their other teachers once a month.  In January we finished our series on the life of Esther.  In February the kids were excited as we started on the life of Elijah.  It has been a real blessing to have the opportunity to teach them about Elijah and to teach them about the mighty God we serve.  You should see their faces!
AWANA has started up again on Sunday afternoons.  The kids are busy learning about God and memorizing verses.  Because scripture memory is so important, I want to share with you what we have just started in the boys’ orphanage out in Timau.  I had been encouraging the boys to memorize verses.  After the boys responded with such enthusiasm, the Lord gave me a wonderful idea to have the boys start memorizing the first chapter of James.  We will be discussing the verses as they progress.
It was a privilege to teach in the Mt. Kenya Baptist School chapel service in January.  The Lord spoke to the hearts of the students that day.  We had several trust Christ as their Savior and some that came for assurance!  Thank you for your prayers and faithful support!
