“And Jesus, when He came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34. As I see the people and specifically the children here in Kenya, I see lost souls who need to hear about the Good Shepherd. I continue to enjoy having the opportunity to share with the children in Jua Kali about the Good Shepherd and the Bread of Life!
In March we had a medical team come from the US. They joined up with two Kenyan doctors to do medical camps around our area. There were camps held in three of our village churches. It allowed the people to learn about the churches and also allowed the national pastors to follow up on the ones that trusted Christ as their Savior. We served hundreds of people at each camp. Thanks to one of my supporting churches, we were able to give each person a toothbrush and toothpaste. What a blessing to our people and the orphans!
We had our very first Vacation Bible School at the Bible Baptist Church of Nyahururu this April. Some of the church people wondered if 50 children would come. On the last day we reached a total of 164 kids! The children walked for miles to attend. Several came back Sunday as first time visitors. There were no salvation decisions, but we saw much seed planted in their hearts. The fact that they will have another VBS in August is exciting!
Many of you have been following the tax issue involving the missionaries in Kenya. It has been settled and each one of us will be required to pay taxes quarterly based on our support. This has caused problems financially among the Kenyan missionaries. Please pray for us.
Things are continuing to stay busy. More training classes for Sunday school teachers have been scheduled in our Bible Baptist churches in the Mt. Kenya area. We have also started plans for Vacation Bible Schools in some of those churches. Your prayers and faithful support are greatly appreciated!
