New Doors of Opportunity Opening

Exciting things are going on at our new church in Jua Kali. On Sundays we have over 40 kids in attendance and 20 adults! They have also started a nursery school that meets in the church building during the week. There are over 60 boys and girls ranging from 3 years to 9 years in age that attend this school. Coming from poor families they have never had the opportunity to go to school.

I have been given the opportunity to teach Bible to these children every Friday morning. Today was my first day to go. What a blessing it was!!!! The majority of these children are Maasai and it was their first time to have a white person standing before them talking to them. I will try to get pictures next week when I go teach.

I learned today that most understand Swahili; a few only know Maasai and none understand English. =) The Pastor from Naibor came today and translated for me, but starting next week I will be attempting to teach in Swahili. They have a wonderful teacher named Grace who loves each of these children. I am looking forward to working with her to reach these children that God has brought into our lives!

When I was done teaching and leaving the building I saw the funniest thing. One of the little boys was standing on the church porch going to the bathroom. I guess he thought the choo (the hole in the ground style bathroom) was too far for him to make it. Of course I turned my head to give him privacy (not that it did much good since he was on the front porch) and laughed and thought of all the funny things I have experienced here in Kenya. I know the Lord is going to do great things with these children! Keep us in your prayers! =)
